Important Parts of the New HeinOnline Interface

Within the new HeinOnline interface, it is important to note that all libraries (Journals Collection, Federal Register, U.S. Reports and U.S. Treaties) have the same user interface and format. As shown above, the current library that you are browsing will be listed as well as the title or volume and the coverage of this particular title or volume.

Citation Navigator

  • For the legal researcher who has an official citation to a particular article, HeinOnline offers a unique, efficient searching technique. By entering the volume number, selecting the journal from the menu pull-down, and entering a page number, the researcher will quickly locate the exact page within the collection. Please note: Currently, this search feature follows Bluebook rule 16.3 (17th ed., page 119) for consecutively paginated journals. In the event your cite is to a non-consecutively paginated journal, it is best to use the Author/Title search or the browse by journal title features of HeinOnline.
  • You can use the drop down box to choose any collection you may wish to browse.
  • The Citation Navigator works the same way. If you know the exact volume, page and journal that you are looking for, enter that information in the boxes above, click the Go button and you will be automatically taken to that page of the journal. (Note: If you enter just the Volume and Journal, you will be taken to the first page of that journal.)

    • The Feedback button will open your default e-mail program to prepare a message to send to HeinOnline Technical Support.
    • The Logout button will log you off of HeinOnline.
